The 75th Primetime Emmy Awards, hosted by actor and comedian Anthony Anderson, made it’s return last night after a four-month postponement prompted by last year’s Hollywood writers and actors strikes.
HBO’s “Succession” claimed an impressive six awards, securing best drama for the third time, along with best actor (Kieran Culkin) and best actress (Sarah Snook) in a drama. FX’s “The Bear” also had a remarkable night, clinching six awards, including best comedy, best actor in a comedy (Jeremy Allen White), and best supporting actor and supporting actress in a comedy (Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Ayo Edebiri). Netflix’s “Beef” garnered five awards, with honors such as best limited series and best actor and actress in a limited series going to Steven Yeun and Ali Wong.
In a historic achievement, Elton John received an Emmy for outstanding variety special with “Elton John Live: Farewell From Dodger Stadium,” attaining EGOT status—Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony. Additionally, “Abbott Elementary” star Quinta Brunson made history as the second Black woman to win best actress in a comedy at the Emmy Awards.
